Caroline Matthews personifies creative energy. In the early days of Dos Carolinas, Caroline did most of the work herself, from designing unique guayaberas to sewing pristine pin-tucks. With 30+ years of experience, she still does fittings for clientele and personally sees to the day-to-day operations of the workroom. Caroline is still the beating heart of Dos Carolinas, and demand for her bespoke casual shirts is booming.

The Twig Book Shop has been a haven for San Antonio book lovers since 1972. It is managed by Claudia Maceo who is a beacon and supporter of our literary community. She has been with the bookstore since it moved to Pearl in 2009 and her dedication and commitment has made Twig a literary destination and San Antonio treasure. She takes great pride in matching people of all ages with books she’s sure they’ll love.

Marla’s grandmother started Adelante in 1975 and Marla represents the third generation of this family business. For over four decades they’ve been a staple in San Antonio—dressing and accessorizing generations. Like many of Pearl’s shops, COVID-19 hit Marla and her team especially hard and prompted them to learn a new business model: e-commerce.

Feliz Modern POP is centered around the most important thing in life: connection. Connection with friends, family, and community through art, humor, and celebration. The shop carries a colorful assortment of local and global art, gifts, and home decor with a San Antonio flavor, all thoughtfully sourced (or produced) by husband-and-wife team Mario and Ginger Diaz.

The Tiny Finch offers an assortment of unique gifts, home décor and accents, apothecary, jewelry, and additional curated products from all over the world. Owner Courtney Beauchamp opened the shop in 2013 with the intention of creating a happy place—for herself and for everyone who walks in the door. Thoughtfully sourcing items from designers and international markets, Courtney is guided by a simple principle: she carries what she loves.
